Editorial Standards
We tell our story together, and we try to tell it straight. This explains how we work, who owns us, and how to reach us when we get something wrong.

1. Who owns Radio Kenya United
Radio Kenya United is operated by Radio Kenya United LLC, a California limited liability company. Radio Kenya United LLC is wholly owned by Jirani Chemchemi LLC, its parent company. We are a for-profit business funded by advertising and sponsorship.
2. Editorial independence
We follow a written Editorial Independence Policy. In plain words:
- The owner does not direct our reporting, and does not tell us to run or drop a story to serve the owner’s interests.
- The owner does not suppress reporting. If a story is in the public interest and it checks out, we can run it, even if it is uncomfortable.
- When we cover a person or business we are tied to, we say so in the story.
- We keep news separate from advertising and sponsorship.
3. Corrections
We will fix mistakes. If you think we got a fact wrong, email admin@radiokenyaunited.com with the detail and, if you can, a source. We will check it. If we were wrong, we will correct it and, where it matters, say what changed.
4. Paid and affiliate content
- We label sponsored and paid content so you know when something is paid for.
- If we earn a commission or have a business tie to something we mention, we disclose it in that piece.
- A mention of an advertiser or sponsor is not our endorsement of that party.
5. Protecting sources and callers
- We protect the identity of sources and callers who ask to stay anonymous.
- For sensitive topics, we air a contribution only with consent, and we do not identify a minor. See the Privacy Policy for more.
- We do not share a caller’s contact details with other listeners. There is no listener-to-listener contact inside our service.
6. Our accountability reporting
Some of our programming, including our accountability segment, looks at public spending and public records. The figures we use in that reporting come from public records and other sourced material. We cite where a figure comes from so you can check it yourself.
